Welcome to my little corner of the internet! This blog is where Iโll be sharing a behind-the-scenes look at my photography sessions, tips and tricks Iโve picked up along the way, and glimpses into my personal life beyond the lens. Whether youโre a fellow photographer, a client, or just someone who loves storytelling through images, Iโm so glad youโre here. Letโs explore the beauty, chaos, and creativity that happens both in front of and behind the camera.
Youโve booked a Newborn studio photography session (yay!), but what now? Those tiny fingers, scrunchy faces, and sleepy little stretches? Weโre going to capture all the magic but a little prep goes a long way in making your session smooth and stress-free.
Here are 3 important things to know before your posed newborn session so youโre totally ready:

I totally get itโwhen you’re expecting, your brain is juggling onesies, baby names, and snack cravings. But if youโre thinking about a studio newborn session, get on the schedule while youโre still pregnant. I only take a limited number of newborns per month to allow wiggle room for due dates.
๐My cozy little studio is located in Smithfield, NC, and it’s fully stocked with wraps, props, and all the things we need to make baby look extra adorable.
โจ Bonus tip: Posed newborn sessions are best when baby is under 2 weeks oldโthatโs when theyโre extra sleepy and love being curled up just like they were in the womb.
A full belly is key! Whether youโre nursing or bottle-feeding, come with extra milk or formulaโmore than you think youโll need. Well-fed babies are calm, sleepy, and much more likely to snooze right through those sweet, squishy poses.
No shame in snack breaksโwe take as many as baby needs!
Some poses take a little time, and thatโs totally normal. Baby calls the shots, and we go at their pace. My studio in Smithfield is warm, cozy, and designed to help everyone chillโespecially your little one.
โจ Your job? Bring a coffee, a snack, and take a breather. Sit back and relax while I handle the swaddling, shushing, and posing. Itโs basically the closest thing to a break youโll get as a new parentโand youโve earned it. Theres a dunkin and starbucks within 10 minutes of my studio!
Final Thoughts
Your baby is only this tiny once, and capturing those first days is pure magic. If youโre looking for newborn studio photography near Raleigh, Iโd love to welcome you to my Smithfield, NC studio for a session thatโs easy, relaxed, and full of heart.
