3 Things to Know Before Your Newborn Studio Photography Session

3 Things to Know Before Your Newborn Studio Photography Session
Claire Stanley Photography | Raleigh Newborn Studio Photography

Youโ€™ve booked a Newborn studio photography session (yay!), but what now? Those tiny fingers, scrunchy faces, and sleepy little stretches? Weโ€™re going to capture all the magic but a little prep goes a long way in making your session smooth and stress-free.

Here are 3 important things to know before your posed newborn session so youโ€™re totally ready:

1. Book Earlyโ€”Like, Really Early

I totally get itโ€”when you’re expecting, your brain is juggling onesies, baby names, and snack cravings. But if youโ€™re thinking about a studio newborn session, get on the schedule while youโ€™re still pregnant. I only take a limited number of newborns per month to allow wiggle room for due dates.

๐Ÿ“My cozy little studio is located in Smithfield, NC, and it’s fully stocked with wraps, props, and all the things we need to make baby look extra adorable.

โœจ Bonus tip: Posed newborn sessions are best when baby is under 2 weeks oldโ€”thatโ€™s when theyโ€™re extra sleepy and love being curled up just like they were in the womb.

2. Bring the Snacksโ€”For Baby

A full belly is key! Whether youโ€™re nursing or bottle-feeding, come with extra milk or formulaโ€”more than you think youโ€™ll need. Well-fed babies are calm, sleepy, and much more likely to snooze right through those sweet, squishy poses.

No shame in snack breaksโ€”we take as many as baby needs!

3. Come Ready to Relax (Yes, Really!)

Some poses take a little time, and thatโ€™s totally normal. Baby calls the shots, and we go at their pace. My studio in Smithfield is warm, cozy, and designed to help everyone chillโ€”especially your little one.

โœจ Your job? Bring a coffee, a snack, and take a breather. Sit back and relax while I handle the swaddling, shushing, and posing. Itโ€™s basically the closest thing to a break youโ€™ll get as a new parentโ€”and youโ€™ve earned it. Theres a dunkin and starbucks within 10 minutes of my studio!

Final Thoughts

Your baby is only this tiny once, and capturing those first days is pure magic. If youโ€™re looking for newborn studio photography near Raleigh, Iโ€™d love to welcome you to my Smithfield, NC studio for a session thatโ€™s easy, relaxed, and full of heart.
