Welcome to my little corner of the internet! This blog is where I share helpful tips for planning your photography sessions, location ideas around Raleigh and Johnston County, and real client sessions from the studio and outdoors. Whether you're expecting a baby, planning family photos, or celebrating your little one's milestones, you'll find inspiration and guidance to help make your session feel relaxed, fun, and meaningful.
oh hey!
oh hey!
Pregnancy is such a unique season — one that deserves to be documented in a way that feels natural, comfortable, and true to you. If you’re considering a maternity session and wondering what the experience is like, this post will walk you through exactly what to expect.
As a Raleigh maternity photographer, my goal is to create images that feel timeless and effortless while making sure you feel confident every step of the way.

Maternity sessions are typically scheduled between 28–34 weeks of pregnancy. This window allows your belly to be beautifully showing while you’re still feeling comfortable enough to move and enjoy the session.
That said, every pregnancy is different. If you’re feeling best a little earlier or later, I’m always happy to adjust timing based on how you’re feeling.
Outfits don’t need to be complicated. Neutral tones, soft textures, and loose silhouettes tend to photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you and your bump.
After booking, you’ll receive style guidance to help you choose something that feels comfortable and will photograph with the vision you have in mind. One of my favorite online dress stores is Worth Collective.
Maternity sessions are not just about the bump — they’re about your growing family.
Partners, children, and even dogs are welcome to be included! (as long as the location allows) We’ll capture a mix of images together as well as some just of you.
You don’t need to worry about posing or what to do with your hands — I’ll guide you throughout the session.
Photos from your maternity photography session will be delivered within two weeks of your session. Galleries are delivered online and remain available for three months, giving you plenty of time to download your images and order prints if desired.
If you’re planning to document more than one milestone, maternity sessions pair beautifully with newborn photography. Many expecting moms choose to continue with multiple sessions through The Motherhood Experience, a custom option designed to document motherhood across seasons.
